Junior IT Developer

Background:

Dreamlopments (DLP) Foundation is a non-profit mission-driven organization working on aid and development for underserved communities. DLP is currently implementing the Migrant Fund (M-FUND), a project low-cost not-for-profit health access fund for migrants in Thailand not covered by government health insurance schemes. The project was started in Tak province in 2017 and has since expanded to Sakaeo, Poipet, Kanchanaburi, Myawaddy, Chiang Rai, Ubon Ratchathani, Trat, and Mae Hong Son provinces. M-FUND uses a digital application specifically designed to meet project management needs. The application requires constant improvements/optimization, troubleshooting, and new feature development.

 

DLP is looking for a Junior IT Developer (JIDO), based in DLP Head Office, Bangkok, to work on continued IT development of the M-FUND application, as well as support the organization for optimization of IT equipment use.

Job Overview:

The JIDO works under the guidance of DLP’s IT Developer/Officer (ITDO). He/she also reports to the DLP President and works in collaboration with the M-FUND teams in the provinces the project covers. The JITO conducts rapid troubleshooting of technical errors in the application, as reported by the project team users. He/she works on the development of new features and suggests and/or implements coding improvements.

Specific tasks and responsibilities:

M-FUND application code improvement and troubleshooting

  • Under guidance from the IT Developer/Officer (ITDO), the JIDO implements improvements in the coding of the M-FUND application.

  • Assists in strengthening testing functions of the application. Works to offer rapid assistance to fix technical errors that may arise with the application, including when new features are released and being tested.

 

Development of new features for the M-FUND application

  • The ITDO works to develop workflows for new functionalities needed in the M-FUND application.

  • Under guidance from the ITDO, implements coding of new application functionalities.

  • Assists in conducting testing of new features.

 

Project visits

  • Conducts field visits to project areas, to understand the context and nature of operations, and discuss improvements needed in the M-FUND application.

  • Maintains good communication with the different project teams, to offer optimum response and support.


Organization IT equipment and systems

  • Conducts assessment of IT equipment and work environment.

  • Supports purchase and installation of new IT equipment and systems.

  • Supports maintenance/upgrading approaches.

 

Other

  • The JIDO may be assigned to work on the development/integration of other applications, for the organization's projects, under the guidance of DLP ITDO.

  • Works on other tasks, as directed by the President, or the ITDO.

 

Qualifications required, and profile:

This position is suited ideally, but not exclusively, for Thai nationals.

 

Education:

  • University degree or diploma in computer science, software development, or equivalent field.

 

Experience:

  • At least 1-year working experience in IT programming, and software development.

  • Experience or exposure to developing phone applications is a strong plus.

  • Fresh graduates can also apply.

 

Technical Skills:

  • Experience/knowledge with ReactJS, C# (.NET Core), PHP, or other OOP languages.

  • Relational database design.

  • Experience in GIT, SQL, VueJS, and Laravel is a strong plus.

  • Experience in system administration, and technical support.

  • Strong organizational and planning skills.

  • Strong attention to detail, driven to produce quality work.

  • Self-motivated and goal-oriented.

  • Eager to learn new skills.

  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and sometimes manage demanding schedules to deliver high-quality results on time.

  • Excellent communication skills and strong interpersonal skills.

  • Proficiency in English to Intermediate B1 level.

  • Interest in development and assistance projects, including for marginalized populations.

 

Working Environment:

  • The position is based in the DLP Bangkok Head Office but requires occasional travel to project areas in Tak, Sakaeo, Chiang Rai, and other locations.
