Dr. Yu Nandar Aung
Dr. Yu Nandar Aung is a global health and development professional with over 15 years of experience managing and leading multi-million-dollar health programs across Asia and the Pacific. Originally from Myanmar, Dr. Aung began her career focusing on global health issues, including HIV, tuberculosis, malaria, reproductive health, sexually transmitted infections, and primary health care.
After working in Myanmar for a few years, she expanded her expertise to international roles, gaining extensive experience in countries such as Laos, Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia, Nepal, Papua New Guinea, Pakistan, Vanuatu, and Timor-Leste. Among her career highlights is managing a $45 million grant from the Global Fund for HIV, TB, and malaria over six years. She also co-led the development of health benefit packages for universal health coverage while consulting for the World Health Organization headquarters and has led several key health consultancy projects in the Asia-Pacific region, including the mid-term evaluation of M-FUND.
Dr. Aung is currently the Southeast Asia Regional Coordinator for the Fleming Fund at Mott MacDonald, overseeing grant management initiatives across the region as part of the UK aid-funded effort to combat antimicrobial resistance in Asia and Africa.
Dr. Aung holds a medical degree from the University of Medicine, Mandalay, Myanmar, a master’s degree in HIV, STIs, and Sexual Health from the University of Sydney, Australia, and a master’s in health economics, policy, and management from the London School of Economics and Political Science, UK.
Passionate about improving healthcare access for underserved populations, Dr. Aung is honored to serve on the Board of Trustees for Dreamlopments Foundation, where she will strive to champion equitable health solutions.
